The electric car giant, Tesla, is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal for its first-ever manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India. According to leading news reports, Gujarat’s Health Minister and government spokesperson, Rushikesh Patel, has expressed optimism about Elon Musk’s potential investment in the state.

During a Cabinet briefing on Thursday, December 28, Patel underscored the alignment between Gujarat’s awareness and goals and Tesla’s overarching vision. He further emphasized ongoing government discussions with Tesla to secure the deal for establishing the manufacturing plant in Gujarat.

Media reports highlight Gujarat as the preferred destination for Tesla’s manufacturing plant, citing not only favorable state government policies but also its advantageous proximity to ports, facilitating the export of Tesla’s electric vehicles. The strategic location, particularly in areas like Sanand, positions Tesla to effortlessly increase exports from India, given the short distance to the Kandla-Mundra port in Gujarat.

Negotiations for Tesla’s inaugural manufacturing unit in India are reportedly in their final stages and expected to conclude soon, according to reliable sources. The official announcement of Tesla’s manufacturing presence in Gujarat is anticipated to be a key highlight of the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit scheduled for January 2024, as reported by Ahmedabad Mirror.
